Campaign News – Transforming Hope Capital Campaign Launch Dinner
On 4 November, 2011 the Board of Trustees and Governing Council of Africa International University hosted a kick-off dinner to launch the school’s Transforming Hope Capital Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise Ksh. 800 million over the next 5 years for future growth of academic programmes, buildings, and scholarships.
Approximately 250 guests assembled at the Laico Grand Regency in Nairobi to launch this promising campaign. Guests enjoyed live music, including selections from AIU’s own Professor Caleb Kim, a classical guitarist. Vice Chancellor Douglas Carew shared the vision and strategy for the future of this institution. The event’s guest speaker, Neverl Kambasha, a successful South African businessman, challenged guests to expand their vision by making the most of the opportunities the Lord provides us with.
The evening ended with a harambee fundraiser to officially launch the campaign. Trustees, the Governing Council and Campaign Cabinet members presented their personal contributions along with money that had been given by their family, friends and colleagues. Guests were given the chance to contribute and to pledge future gifts. The guest speaker and his business colleagues also contributed generously to the campaign. The money was received by the Guest of Honor, Mr. Gideon Muriuki. Mr. Muriuki is the Group Managing Director & CEO of Co-operative Bank, as well as a member of the Governing Council and Co-Chair of the Campaign Cabinet for AIU.
God granted His gracious favor to the event. The generosity of those who gave is a testimony to God’s faithfulness to this institution. All totaled, the event raised Ksh 25 million – a great start for the journey ahead. Special thanks and recognition are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Muruiki who raised and contributed more than 50% of the funds.
God provided more than we imagined during our launch dinner. We believe God will use the generous funds provided to transform our campus and our community - for the growth of His Kingdom, and for His glory.
